But there’s some good news -the UKG crew are looking for the PAYBACK & Brighton-London-Newcastle photographer Ewen Spencer has kickstarted the NATIONWIDE campaign. This short film comissioned for DAZED called “Brandy & Coke” lightheartedly dusts down the D&G to recall the rise and fall of UKG scene in it’s turn of the century glory days.
Furthermore in 2014 illegal pirate radio has given way to 24 hour rolling internet shows, giving a potentially powerful new and LEGAL outlet for the music. A whole new generation of promoters, DJs, MCs, producers and artists have an unprecidented opportunity for EXPOSURE to BREAK this underground music scene internationally…
I’m looking forward to watching developments over the next few months culminating in the mammoth UK Garage Festival on Friday 18th April where 200 old and new practicioners come together to celebrate 20 years of UK Garage Music. That’s going to be one really Good Friday!
